What is WNY Heat Retreat?

Where do you deliver?

We deliver to all of Western New York. Locations must be relatively level and have access to back the trailer with our vehicle. We suggest a minimum of 20' x 10' of space for the sauna. If you're staying at a rental like an Airbnb, check with your host first. For extended rentals, we're willing to deliver beyond our normal service area—just reach out with your location and rental length.

What time is drop off and pick up?

We deliver the sauna around 5pm on your chosen day. Pickup is generally by 3pm on the last day of your rental. We try to be flexible with timing, so please leave us a note when booking about what works best for you!

What is your cancellation policy?

You can cancel or reschedule free of charge up to 14 days before your rental. Between 7-14 days out, there's a 25% cancellation fee. Bookings are non-refundable within 7 days of the rental period. All refunds are at the discretion of Heat Retreat.

Can I book for an Airbnb or rental property?

Yes! Just make sure to check with your host first to confirm it's okay to park the sauna at their property. We're happy to work with you and the homeowner to ensure a seamless delivery.

How many people can the sauna fit?

The sauna comfortably accommodates 6-8 adults at a time. Traditional Finnish sauna bathing involves rotating in and out in short rounds (typically 15 minutes), so larger groups often find it easy to share the space without feeling crowded.

What temperature does the sauna reach?

Our traditional wood-burning Finnish sauna reaches 160-200°F—the optimal temperature range for a healthy sauna experience. It typically takes 45 minutes to an hour to reach this temperature after lighting the stove.

Will you give us instructions on how to use it?

Absolutely! We provide a full tutorial on how to start, operate, and reload the wood-burning Kuuma stove at the time of drop-off. We'll set you up for success and are happy to get the stove going for you right away if you'd like.

Is the sauna completely off-grid?

Yes! Our sauna is completely off-grid and requires no electrical hookup. Just a level space (about 20' x 10') and you're ready to go.

Is firewood provided?

All rentals include 2 complimentary bundles of firewood, with the option to purchase more at the time of booking. We also accept cash on delivery for additional wood—just email us with how many bundles you'd like anytime before your rental date.

How do you clean the sauna between rentals?

We thoroughly clean and sanitize our sauna between every rental using a specially formulated antibacterial sauna cleaner. This disinfectant-deodorizer-fungicide eliminates germs, mold, mildew, and surface microorganisms on contact. Combined with cedar's natural resistance to moisture and bacteria, our cleaning routine keeps the unit fresh, hygienic, and in top-tier condition.

Do I need to sign a waiver?

Yes, all guests must complete a health waiver before using the sauna. You can complete this ahead of time on our website or at the time of delivery.

Are there any health conditions that prevent sauna use?

Sauna use may not be suitable for people with certain health conditions including heart conditions, low blood pressure, pregnancy, or those taking certain medications. Please consult your doctor if you have any concerns. Our waiver includes a health acknowledgement section.
